The Future of Canada is Islamic Why Not Join the Transformation

The Muslim Association of Canada has just announced the ‘Canadian Islamic College’ (CIC) has been accredited and as you see in the image, claims that this new college will be ‘Transformative’ [1].

That is likely the case but exactly why would we want to transform Canada from being one of the ‘Most Tolerant’ countries in the world to follow the example of one of the ‘Least Tolerant’ countries in the world [2].

To have some idea of what is taught in Islamic schools, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom examined school texts in an Islamic country [3].

A SURVEY OF 2017–2018 SAUDI MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS

  • Heretics The middle school textbooks on monotheism are especially critical of Shi`a and Sufi Muslims for venerating the graves of their imams and saints and for seeking their intercession with God.

  • Wahhabis consider these practices the greatest form of polytheism, placing one outside of the faith

  • Apostasy In classical Islamic law, apostasy from Islam is punishable by death if the apostate does not repent.

  • The 2017/2018 high school texts endorse this penalty, including for those who make fun of God and His Prophet.

  • Shunning A pillar of Wahhabi religious practice is the doctrine of al-wala’ wa’l-bara’, fraternizing only with true Muslims and shunning nonbelievers and misguided Muslims.

  • Koran 48:29 …forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves…

  • Jihad Several passages in the high school textbooks urge violent jihad against nonbelievers for rejecting Islam

  • Women The high school textbooks also advocate beating women when they disobey and stoning them to death if they have an affair:

  • Gay men are to be stoned to death regardless of whether they are married

Canada is not currently Islamic but to become so we have only to educate Canadian children in this manner and it won’t take long.  These teachings are contrary to the Universal Code of Human Rights.

As it happens, the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) already has almost 40 schools operating in Canada.  If it is a public institution, then accreditation is from the Ontario Ministry for Colleges and Universities.  If it is private, which would also require provincial approval, then why is it called the ‘Canadian’ Islamic College?  A name which suggests that the school upholds those principles that are enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Instead we read that “CIC offers a multidisciplinary Islamic learning experience that is AUTHENTICALLY GROUNDED WITHIN THE ISLAMIC WORLDVIEW.… CIC’s programs are founded on a robust pedagogical framework that is epistemologically based on ISLAMIC PRIMARY SOURCES (the Qur’an and Sunnah), along with scholarly Islamic texts [4].”

These primary sources are also the basis of sharia law – a socio/political/economic form of governance with ‘religious’ aspects that is practiced in Islamic states such as Iran and Afghanistan.

These Islamic Primary Sources are inconsistent with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and neither do they comport with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  Did the people responsible for the necessary approvals have any idea what is actually taught in the foundational Islamic texts and if they do know – then why are they approving it?

It is these same primary Islamic sources that provide the basis for the Saudi school book described above.

CIC Courses include the ‘Fiqh of Business & Financial Institutions’ – which means Islamic finance, which is required to have a Sharia board and is one of the ways in which non-Islamic countries become Islamized – in addition to educational institutions such as this.

According to the Canadian Charity database the Muslim Association of Canada revenue sources include a combination of donations, government funding, and service fees for a total of over $50 million.  In 2023, MAC received around $15.3 million in donations and $6 million in government funding, which contributes to its projects, including educational initiatives [5].  Between 2018 and 2022 – MAC rec’d approximately $31 million in government funding [6].  Exactly why is every level of Canadian government using tax dollars to support an institution that seeks to promote Islamic law and finance in Canada?

Recall that in 2022, twenty eight Canadian Islamic organizations lobbied to have the Human Rights Chair of Alberta fired because of a 13 year old book review in which he had written ‘it is the history of Islam that informs the jihadis of today.”  An entirely accurate statement and an example of free speech.  And the Chair was fired, make no mistake [7].

So how are we to believe that the cornerstone of Canadian democracy and first amendment of the U.S. Constitution – the right to free speech – will be upheld by this institution and why is the Canadian government supporting it?
