Paris, September 5, 2024 – In another shocking incident tied to France’s growing security failures, a 20-year-old Spanish volunteer for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games has filed a complaint after being sexually assaulted while working at Gare de Lyon. The young woman, who was assisting travelers, was subjected to an attack on Tuesday morning when a man groped her on the job, a police source revealed.
The assailant, identified as a 49-year-old Moroccan national, was swiftly apprehended by officers from SUGE (the railway security unit) and placed in custody. Upon questioning by officers from the Regional Transport Security (SRT), he admitted to the assault.
Disturbingly, the suspect was already well-known to law enforcement, with a record at TAJ (Police Database) for sexual assault, voluntary violence, death threats, and other criminal offenses, including theft and traffic violations. Although he is currently residing in France legally until 2034, his lengthy criminal history raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the system and the danger posed by repeat offenders being allowed to remain in the country.
This incident once again highlights the troubling consequences of weak leadership and lax immigration policies that continue to expose residents and visitors alike to serious harm. The fact that this man, a known criminal with multiple offenses, was still freely roaming the streets of Paris serves as a glaring reminder of the systemic failure to protect citizens and uphold justice.
