The small Italian town of Fara Vicentino in the province of Vicenza was gripped by fear when a Muslim migrant shouted “Allahu Akhbar” before shooting and injuring a local police officer. The migrant had taken the gun from one of the police officers who had arrived at the scene. The attack occurred on the morning of April 24 and resulted in the death of a Moroccan citizen involved in a firefight with the police.
Eyewitnesses reported that the migrant was walking barefoot and appeared confused before he suddenly went into a rage, shouting insults in Arabic. Passersby reported hearing him shouting “Allahu Akhbar,” the Islamic war cry. The police were alerted and arrived at the scene where the Muslim migrant took the service gun from one of the two police officers who had intervened.
In the ensuing chaos, the man fired several rounds, two of which hit one of the local police officers. The police officer, who still possessed his weapon, shot and killed the suspect.
The incident serves as another stark reminder of the dangers posed by Islamic migrants and the need for Italy to close its borders. The attack also highlights the bravery and dedication of law enforcement officers who put themselves in harm’s way to protect their communities.
The 40-year-old local police officer involved in the morning shootout was struck by two bullets – one hit his right foot, while the other pierced his left side, causing a collapsed lung. He underwent surgery at the Alto Vicentino Hospital of Santorso, where doctors performed lung drainage, and a second lung CT scan is currently in progress. While his condition remains serious, it is not life-threatening, and he is expected to recover fully.
As the investigation into the incident continues, the community of Fara Vicentino is left to grapple with the aftermath of the tragedy and the implications of extremism and terrorism in their small town.
